Mission
Eastern Mediterranean University Department of Fine Arts Education, which only has the Music Teacher Education Program, was established in 2006 and saw its first graduates in 2010. The courses that the undergraduate students take during their 4-year education period can be categorised into three different areas: field knowledge, professional knowledge and general culture. Every student is obliged to learn to play an instrument suitable to their physical characteristics and skills for four years. Moreover, our students have piano and voice training, and get choir training for four years. During their graduation year, our students are sent to schools for internship for one year.
Our main goal is to equip our graduates with the necessary skills that will create value from the first day, and raise them with the knowledge and experience that can be effective in the education systems of both Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Our graduates can become teachers in public and private schools within the body of the Ministry of National Education, as well as in private courses, classrooms and institutions where music education is given, and they can work in the culture and arts units of municipalities, other public institutions and private institutions and in as universities as academic staff by continuing their postgraduate education.
