Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) and Turkish Association of Curriculum and Instruction (EPÖDER) signed a collaboration protocol for the 13th International Congress on Curriculum and Instruction planned to take place on 25-28 October 2025. The signing session of the said protocol was held on Wednesday, 12 February 2025 at 05:00 p.m. at the EMU Rector’s Office building where EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç and the President of EPÖDER Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cem Babadoğan signed the collaboration protocol. Present during the signing session were EMU Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe and Prof. Dr. Ali Öztüren, Dean of EMU Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Ahmet Pehlivan, Head of EMU Department of Educational Sciences Prof. Dr. Canan Zeki, Vice Head of EMU Department of Foreign Language Education Assist. Prof. Dr. Fatoş Erozan, Department of Educational Sciences’ academic personnel member Prof. Dr. Sıtkiye Kuter and visiting delegation from the EPÖDER.
“Very Important for the Country”
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Pehlivan, Dean of EMU Faculty of Education, expressed their contentment on signing the protocol that would provide contributions to the country in the field of educational sciences. Moreover, Prof. Dr. Pehlivan extended his thanks to Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç and Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe for their support during the process. Prof. Dr. Pehlivan highlighted the significance of the 13th International Congress on Curriculum and Instruction being organized under the leadership of EMU for the country and noted that several universities had shown interest in hosting the event but expressed his appreciation for EPÖDER President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Babadoğan’s commitment to collaborating with EMU. Prof. Dr. Pehlivan also extended his best wishes for the success of the protocol and the congress.

“Collaborating with EMU will enhance the Event”
The President of EPÖDER, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Babaoğlan also delivered a speech, stating that they are organizing the 13th edition of the event and, they are pleased to be collaborating with EMU as part of this year’s congress. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Babadoğan mentioned that numerous universities were interested in hosting the congress but emphasized their decision to choose EMU. He expressed confidence that working with EMU would add value to the event. Highlighting that each congress focuses on a unique theme, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Babadoğan revealed that this year’s theme would be “Designing the Future”. He also extended his gratitude to EMU for their collaboration and wished the protocol to be beneficial for both parties.

EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç emphasized the importance of the upcoming event and the protocol to be signed, stressing that a key role of universities is to produce knowledge. Prof. Dr. Kılıç noted that the congress would serve this purpose and highlighted that its international dimension adds significant value. Expressing EMU’s pleasure in hosting the event, Prof. Dr. Kılıç thanked EPÖDER and its team, wishing for the congress to contribute positively to the academic community.

“The Most Efficacious Workshop was held at EMU”
Following the speeches of the protocol, EPÖDER member Prof. Dr. Kıymet Selvi expressed that this was their second visit to EMU and reminded that they had held the “Educational Terms” Workshop at EMU in 2014. Prof. Dr. Selvi shared their satisfaction with the workshop conducted at that time, emphasizing that EPÖDER had its most successful workshop at EMU. She acknowledged the long-standing partnership between EMU and EPÖDER and expressed her appreciation for EMU’s contributions.
