1) All registered undergraduate students (in 2-year and 4 year programs) who meet the criteria for candidacy can apply to become a candidate for 2024-2025 Academic Year Student Council Elections for 1 (one) academic year.
2) The following are the requirements for the candidates wishing to become a Student Representative:
- The candidate should be a registered student at the relevant Faculty/School
- Candidates applying for the position of the Department Representative at Faculties/Schools, School Representative at English Preparatory School, and Class Representative at Faculty of Law, Faculty of Pharmacy and Faculty of Medicine should hold a minimum CGPA and/or GPA of 2.00 (during the previous semester).
- Summer Semester averages are not taken into account.
- The candidate should not hold any disciplinary penalty.
- The candidate should not exceed the normal period of study specified for his/her assigned program (except for the English Preparatory School).
- The candidate should not hold any criminal record.
3) Students studying at English Preparatory School will elect a School Representative who will become a Student Council Member representing English Preparatory School. The condition for GPA is not sought for English Preparatory School candidates.
4) Upon cancelling his/her registration from the University or being granted an absence of leave or being issued a disciplinary penalty, an elected representative's representation and relevant duties are cancelled. The candidate with the second highest number of votes is appointed as the new representative.
5) In Faculties and Schools, students who have got only one remaining semester for graduation cannot be candidates for elections.
6) For a student to become a candidate representing the English Preparatory School, s/he should at least have two semesters of study at the said school. The students at the English Preparatory School who have a chance to transfer to the freshman year of their departments at the end of the fall semester (i.e., those who are currently attending EPS 103 and EPS 104 classes) cannot be a candidate for the English Preparatory School Representative position.
7) Students wishing to become candidates for the Student Council Elections should be well-informed about the EMU Student Council Regulation and be well aware of the related responsibilities of the position.
