Students of EMU Stress the Importance of Oral and Dental Week

Within the framework of the social responsibility projects organised by Eastern Mediterranean University Community Involvement Center, students of Communication Faculty Public Relations and Advertising Department and Education Faculty Psychological Counseling and Guidance Department carried out two different social responsibility projects to raise awareness regarding "Oral and Dental Health Week".

The first project which was carried out by EMU Communication Faculty, Public Relations and Advertising Department students Üzeyir Can Belci, Gökçe Tahta and Caner Aksu under the sponsorship of Famagusta Medical Center focused on helping children overcome the dentist phobia. In this respect, students from Oyun Bahçesi Pre-school were taken to Famagusta Medical Center and received information from dentists Alev İnan and Hasan Aksoy regarding the importance of dental health and healthy nutrition. Students also received information on the importance of milk consumption. Students then had a chance to observe the patients undergoing dental treatment.

On the other hand, EMU Educational Sciences Faculty, Psychological Counseling and Guidance Department final year students Hüseyin Tan, Sezer Karcı, Zafer Özler, Fatma Kurt, Filiz Acar, Gamze Karacaoğlu and Rahşan Korkut Dedeoğlu took part in another project within the framework of the "Oral and Dental Week". Organised by EMU academic staff member Barış Başel within the framework of Community Services course, the project took place at Polat Paşa Elementary School. The students paid a visit to the aforesaid school with EMU Health Center dentist Işın Akcan, who conducted a dental check on the 5th grade students. At the end of the visit, students distributed informative brochures on oral and dental health.
