Eastern Mediterranean University Education Faculty English Language Teaching Department organised an "ELT Day" in Prof. Dr. Mehmet Tahiroğlu Hall. The event which was participated by a considerable number of undergraduate and postgraduate students of the department as well as academic staff members and English language teachers who work in secondary schools within Famagusta region hosted workshops and panels in the field of English Language Education.
Following the opening address of the English Language Teaching Department chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülşen Musayeva Vefalı, Tony Gurr delivered a workshop entitled "Is ELT Enough? The Changing Role of the ELT Professional in a Globalised EDUsphere" under the sponsorship of Pearson. Following the workshop, "Is ELT Enough? The Changing Role of the ELT Professional in a Globalised EDUsphere" was discussed in a panel with the participation of 6 undergraduate and postgraduate students. Following the panel, English language teachers who have been providing guidance for final year students in their internship practice were presented with certificates of appreciation. The event ended with a cocktail during which a violin concert by Fine Arts Education Department academic staff member Aleksandr Zabolotkov and a mini prize draw was held.
